I was talking about how I found about Uberman. And to talk about that I need to talk about Web 2.0 just a little bit.

I don’t actually don’t have time for all the new web 2.0 content. What I mean is, it is excellent and exciting stuff, but very distracting, and since my ability to get things done is on the lower end of the efficiency scale, I need less distraction and more focus. So, some weeks ago I decided to do a quick survey of the major web 2.0 homepages and social bookmarking sites and try to settle on a couple and ignore the rest.

For the record I ended up with:

  • Delicious, for bookmarks which I’ve been using since the beginning. I don’ use browser bookmarks anymore.
  • Protopage, for my homepage, which I’m not using yet. I have a bunch of tabs permanently open in Firefox instead which act as my start page. Protopage is not the prettiest personal home page site out there, but it has more potential customization.
  • Shadows.
  • LibraryThing, which I have found only recently and which will turn out to be very useful.
  • Qoolsqool, which looks like its just starting out but looks promising. Just found it and I don’t know much about it.
  • Clipmarks, haven’t used yet but it looks terrific and very useful.

These suit my needs. Any more for me and I’m wasting time, playing daisy while ship sinks. This comes from a man who does’t have any IM accounts or Skype. I just don’t know that many people and have never needed them. I’m the only geek I know, which has to change.

How did I find about the Uberman Sleep Cycle?

Shadows led me to the Web Developers Handbook, an incredible list of web development resources. This list had a How to get things done section. This led me to lifehack.org, which had, as luck would have it, a link to Uberman on the front page.

I have thought of little else for weeks.

What is Uberman?

I’m not going to explain it here. Go to these links and find out.

This is by no means a complete list, but will get you started on the road to (ab)normality. I will, at a later time, do a complete writeup once I know what I am doing.

Rats, time to take my 7am nap…
